Keys to the Game
Key sequence Brown had led nearly the entire game, but Bubba Walther tied it at 60 apiece on a three-pointer at the 5:24 mark. Damon Huffman couldn’t answer back with a three of his own, and Walther found Jerome Tillman in transition for a bucket that put Ohio on top 62-60. Scott Friske drew a foul and hit his first free throw, but couldn’t equalize, missing the second. At the other end, Michael Allen collected an offensive rebound and took advantage inside for a three-point lead for the Bobcats. Huffman’s layup brought the Bears back within one, but he couldn’t convert the three-point play to tie. Walther dished to Leon Williams for a point-blank bucket, then Allen came up with a steal. Walther couldn’t knock down the three, but Williams grabbed the rebound and Tillman earned a trip to the line where he hit both free throws for a 68-63 Ohio advantage after an 11-3 Bobcat run.
Key sign it was over Brown found itself trailing 69-67 after two Huffman free throws at the 1:22 mark and was looking for a stop. However, Ohio ran the shot clock down and freshman Tommy Freeman sank a crucial three-pointer with 55 ticks on the clock. When Huffman turned it over on the subsequent possession, Walther was fouled with 47 seconds remaining and hit both free throws. The Bobcats would go a perfect 8 for 8 from the line in the final minute and the Bears would get no closer than four. When Mark McAndrew missed a three in the final seconds with his team down six, the season was over for Brown.
Key performance Williams proved to be very difficult for Brown to contain inside. The Ohio big man rolled up 20 points on 9-for-11 shooting and pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds. Williams also added three steals, an assist, and a block in 36 minutes.
Key statistic The Bears owned the three-point arc, but the Bobcats absolutely dominated inside. Ohio shot an unbelieveable 21 of 27 (77.8 percent) on two-point attempts — compared to just 9 of 19 for Brown — and enjoyed a 36-16 scoring edge in the paint.

Notes

– Huffman saved his best for his final collegiate game, scoring a career-high 39 points on 13-for-20 shooting — 9 of 15 from three. He was joined in double figures by fellow Brown senior McAndrew (15 points) and Peter Sullivan (10 points).

– All five Ohio starters scored in double figures, and two others joined Williams with double-doubles. Walther finished with 10 points and 12 assists, while Tillman tallied 21 points and 11 rebounds.

– The Bobcats also owned the glass, rebounding at 37.9 percent offensive and holding the Bears to just 20.0 percent at their offensive end — good for a 14-6 edge in second-chance points.

– Brown lost despite shooting the lights out from three, knocking down an amazing 16 of 31 (51.6 percent) from outside the arc. Ohio fared much worse from long range, ending up just 8 of 28 (28.6 percent).

– The Bobcats won the turnover battle 11-7 and enjoyed a 14-7 edge in points off turnovers and a 10-0 advantage in fastbreak scoring.

– Brown ends the season with a school-record 19 wins.
