Keys to the Game
Key sequence Siena led 75-73 with under three minutes to play, when Louis Dale drew a foul and converted both free throws to tie it up at 75. Following a Saints turnover, Ryan Wittman couldn’t connect on a three, but Collin Robinson came up with a steal, and Wittman got inside for a layup to put the Big Red on top with 1:12 left. Josh Duell couldn’t equalize with a jumper at the other end, and Cornell ran clock before Louis Dale found Brian Kreefer for a layup just before the shot clock expired, putting the hosts up 79-75 with only 19 seconds remaining.
Key sign it was over Ronald Moore sank two free throws with 12 seconds on the clock to make it a two points game, but Dale matched him with a pair at the line with 10 ticks remaining. When Robinson came up with a steal for the Big Red with under five seconds remaining, the game was won.
Key performance Dale was the main force behind the Big Red’s offensive attack scoring a game-high 20 points on 7-for-15 shooting (4 of 6 from three), while adding six assists and nine rebounds.
Key statistic Cornell continued to shoot the lights out from three, draining 11 of 18 attempts from beyond the arc, for a sizzling 61.1 percent. Siena had a much tougher time, knocking down just 7 of 22 attempts for 31.8 percent.
Notes

– Robinson and Wittman each chipped in 14 points, while Adam Gore added 10.

– Alex Franklin was the high point man for Siena with 19 points off the bench, while Edwin Ubiles added 17 in a reserve role. The Saints bench outscored the starters 48-29.

– The Big Red continued to get the short end of the turnover stick, committing 16 to Siena’s 11, and being outscored 24-13 in points off turnovers.

– Both teams did an excellent job on the defensive glass, with Siena grabbing 28.6 percent of rebounds at its offensive end, while Cornell finished at just 24.1-percent offensive rebounding.

– Alex Tyler was limited to just three points in eight minutes due to foul problems.

– The Big Red will look to run its home mark to 4-0 when Binghamton comes calling on Newman Arena for a 7:00 pm ET tip on Tuesday, November 27.
