This morning the Columbia Daily Specator became the second Ivy League school newspaper to report incorrectly that Brian Cusworth’s eligibility had run out at Harvard. The Spectator joined the Daily Pennsylvanian, who made the same mistake 24 hours earlier. Both papers probably based their reports on a New York Times feature on Cusworth last month that contained the same error, and apparently didn’t do their math correctly when adding up the 18 games he will play this season.
Kurt Svoboda of Harvard’s sports information office confirmed this morning that the big man’s final collegiate game indeed will be against Brown on Saturday, January 27. With Cusworth sitting on 995 career points, look for him to go over the 1,000-point mark in next Friday’s game against Yale.
