Brown gets commitment from Georgia guard Williams

Rivals.com is reporting that Adrian Williams of Wheeler High School in Marietta, Georgia, has committed to Craig Robinson’s Brown program. The son of Super Bowl XXII MVP Doug Williams chose the Bears over interest from Cornell, Dartmouth, Princeton and Air Force. A 6-1 combo guard, Williams has a good outside shot, as evidenced by his 11 three-pointers in a single game on January 16, and can also run the point. He is the sixth recruit to publicly join Brown’s 2007 recruiting class, but the only one so far with lead guard skills.

Slant: Williams will come to Brown with an outstanding pedigree. His Wheeler team traditionally is one of the top programs in the state of Georgia and is ranked near the top again this season. Marcus Becker graduates this spring, and Steve Gruber doesn’t have ideal size to start in Robinson’s system, so this is a big commitment for the Bears. Not only is Williams a highly rated prospect, but he also would appear to be Brown’s point guard of the future. It’s been a very strong year in the league for point guard recruiting, with Penn, Princeton, and Yale also landing promising recruits at the position. As for Brown, don’t be surprised to see Robinson’s first class continue to grow.
