Princeton picked up another commitment on Wednesday, with LongIslandBasketball.com reporting that Jason Liberman of Roslyn Heights, NY, has verbally committed to the Tigers. The 6-5 swingman is regarded as extremely coachable and versatile — able to hit the outside shot and play inside, as he did regularly in high school. As a junior, Liberman was named to the Nassau County All-Star team after leading his Roslyn team to a 15-5 mark.
Slant: Liberman is a serious under-the-radar recruit for Joe Scott, with no mentions or profiles to be found on any of the national recruiting websites. Even the local Long Island site that announced his commitment was unable to decide on the spelling of his surname. However, if he is indeed “Baby Wally” (Szczerbiak) and “one of the best shooters in NY” as his recruitment assistance firm proclaims, people will soon learn his name. The timing is good for Scott to bring in wings. Luke Owings graduates in the spring, and Kyle Koncz and Noah Savage will be seniors when this year’s recruiting class shows up on campus.
