Scout.com reports Northfield Mount Hermon big man Clive Weeden has committed to Terry Dunn’s Big Green after narrowing his list to Dartmouth and Quinnipiac. Weeden is a lunch pail guy who outworks opponents in the post, defends and rebounds well, and does the things on offense that tend to go unnoticed like screening and running the floor. Northfield Mount Hermon coach John Carroll praised his player’s dramatic improvement, telling Scout.com that “[Weeden’s] game has skyrocketed.”
Slant: Weeden didn’t generate a lot of recruiting interest before committing to Dartmouth, but word is that he’s a guy who will put in the work to make himself better. His prep school coach’s assertion in the Scout.com piece that Weeden was Dartmouth’s “number one guy” might be a bit of a stretch, but from all accounts, he’ll bring a toughness and work ethic to the program that can make him a valuable part of it. Even if he never develops into a scoring threat, every program needs players willing to do the little things to make the team better, and Weeden seems like exactly that type.
