Wrist injury sidelines Yale’s Kaplan

The Yale Daily News reports that Yale power forward Sam Kaplan will undergo an MRI Monday on what are believed to be torn ligaments in his wrist. The injury occurred in practice last week and Kaplan did not play in either game this weekend. The YDN story says Kaplan could return to the starting lineup for this weekend’s Dartmouth-Harvard road trip. The junior had been enjoying a breakout season, averaging 11.4 points in just 23.8 minutes per game and shooting 57.1 percent from the floor.

Ruscoe out at least two weeks with broken ankle

The Brown Daily Herald is reporting that Brown tri-captain Luke Ruscoe will miss at least two weeks after doctors discovered a fracture in his injured ankle last week. The senior originally hurt the ankle in the first half of the UMES game on December 20, but retunred for the start of Ivy play in mid-January. Ruscoe played 33 minutes in the double-overtime win over Dartmouth on January 27, however he did not play the following night against Harvard. He was in uniform this weekend, but was limping noticeably in pre-game warmups and didn’t see action.

Dartmouth’s Pattman, Ball questionable for this weekend

Tony Lane of the Valley News reported Tuesday that Dartmouth wings Leon Pattman and Johnathan Ball both will be game-time decisions on Friday night at Cornell due to injuries. Pattman hurt his ankle this weekend and played just nine minutes on Saturday. Ball suffered a fractured nose in the loss at Yale on Saturday and was fitted for a protective face mask.

Gant still hospitalized with “no movements” after neck injury

In an interview with The Ithaca Journal, Dean Gant, the father of injured Cornell player Khaliq Gant, stated that his son “has exhibited no physical movements yet, but that doctors were encouraged by signs of sensations in his extremities.” The younger Gant underwent surgery on Friday to fuse together two dislocated vertebrae in his neck and the procedure reportedly went well.

Cornell’s Gant airlifted after injury in practice

The Ithaca Journal reports that Cornell guard Khaliq Gant sustained a neck injury in practice on Tuesday and was airlifted to Elmira for emergency treatment. Cornell sports information director Jeremy Hartigan said the sophomore “has sensation in all his extremities,” but that doctors “won’t know a whole lot more for 24 to 48 hours” due to swelling in his neck.
