Cornell’s Gant airlifted after injury in practice

The Ithaca Journal reports that Cornell guard Khaliq Gant sustained a neck injury in practice on Tuesday and was airlifted to Elmira for emergency treatment. Cornell sports information director Jeremy Hartigan said the sophomore “has sensation in all his extremities,” but that doctors “won’t know a whole lot more for 24 to 48 hours” due to swelling in his neck. The injury occurred when several Big Red players dove for a loose ball during a practice drill early Tuesday evening. Gant is averaging 2.2 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 1.1 assists in 14.4 minutes this season, and has appeared in all 17 Cornell contests.
