In an interview with The Ithaca Journal, Dean Gant, the father of injured Cornell player Khaliq Gant, stated that his son “has exhibited no physical movements yet, but that doctors were encouraged by signs of sensations in his extremities.” The younger Gant underwent surgery on Friday to fuse together two dislocated vertebrae in his neck and the procedure reportedly went well. He will be airlifted within the next week to the Shepherd Spinal Clinic in Atlanta, where he will begin his rehabilitation. The Gants reported that their son’s doctors were “optimistic” about his chances of walking again after an extended rehabilitation.
