NJHoops.com reports Doug Davis has committed to Sydney Johnson’s Princeton program. A native of Philadelphia, the point guard currently is finishing up a postgrad year at The Hun School of Princeton. The 5-10 Davis picked the Tigers over interest from Columbia and Brown, making him the sixth high schooler to announce his commitment to attend Princeton in the fall.
Slant: Davis’s decision raised some eyebrows, as he opted for Princeton despite a commitment for the Tigers from well-rated fellow point guard Max Huc in this same 2008 class. The fact Johnson brought in two point guards combined with the benchings of Marcus Schroeder and Lincoln Gunn may indicate a level of unhappiness with the returning backcourt options. Davis is described as possessing a good outside shot, which is always a key in a Princeton hybrid system.
