Keys to the Game |
Key sequence |
Harvard’s Jim Goffredo hit five three-pointers in just over three minutes as part of a 16-3 Crimson blitz that turned a seven-point game into a 20-point blowout. Brown would get no closer than 15 points the rest of the way. |
Key sign it was over |
Goffredo’s long-distance shooting display essentially ended the competitive portion of the game, but when Marcus Becker was whistled for a defensive foul with Brown trailing by 15 and 5:38 left, the Brown bench was slapped with a technical foul. Harvard drained the two technical free throws and both free throws resulting from the foul, and it was truly over. |
Key performance |
Harvard guard Jim Goffredo. The junior has had some big scoring games this year, but his shooting in this one was simply unbelievable. Goffredo hit seven straight three-pointers at one point and finished the night 8 of 10 from the arc and 9 of 12 overall for his second scoring effort of 30 or more points in the last four games. During the stretch of play where Harvard blew open the game, Goffredo scored 16 straight points for the Crimson. |
Key statistic |
Goffredo’s 8-for-10 three-point shooting. Aside from the 3:10 span in the first half when he singlehandely outscored Brown 16-3, the game essentially was even. Brown simply had no answer for Goffredo’s outside shooting. |

Notes |
– |
With Brown big men Sam Manhanga, Aaron Jimenez, and Nate Eads all in steet clothes, Harvard punished the Bears on the boards. The Crimson grabbed 13 of 26 rebounds off their own missed shots and limited Brown to 26.7-percent defensive rebounding at the other end. |

The win was Harvard’s second straight at the Pizzitola Center after losing five straight there between 1999-00 and 2003-04. |

Harvard freshman Drew Housman bounced back from a poor outing at Yale the previous night with a strong nine-assist, one-turnover effort. . |

Harvard’s 75 points on 64 possessions was its best offensive performance of the season — and the worst defensive performance by Brown so far this season. |
