Key sequence Mike Christensen’s three-pointer tied the game at 65 with 2:35 to play. At the other end, Harvard worked the ball inside to Evan Harris, who put the Crimson back on top with a bucket. Out of a timeout, transfer Dan McGeary came up with a critical steal against his former team, and with the shot clock in single digits, Drew Housman drilled a three-pointer to give Harvard at 70-65 lead with 1:15 remaining.
Key sign it was over A Tyrece Gibbs layup made it a one-possession game with a minute to play, and the Wildcats caught a break when Harris couldn’t finish inside. However, down by three, New Hampshire used 22 seconds before settling for an Alvin Abreu missed a layup with six seconds left. Christensen got the offensive board, but his jumper wouldn’t fall. Harris iced the victory with two free throws with two seconds on the clock.
Key performance Harris tied for high-scoring honors with 18 points off the bench, with 10 of those coming at the line. The junior big man also added four rebounds, two assists, a block, and five steals.
Key statistic The Crimson shot the ball fairly well (47.1 percent), while limiting the Wildcats to just 38.6-percent shooting.
Notes

– Housman (13 points), McGeary (11 points), and Jeremy Lin (10 points) were the other Harvard players in double figures.

– Christensen scored 18 points to lead New Hampshire, with Gibbs chipping in with 16.

– Tommy Amaker benched four of his regular starters, giving freshmen T.J. Carey, Kyle Fitzgerald, and Adam Demuyakor their first collegiate starts. McGeary also started against his former team, with Lin the only regular starter to retain his job.

– Harvard struggled with turnovers, committing 22 on the night. McGeary and Housman were the main culprits with six apiece.

– The Crimson had 10 offensive rebounds, but only one second chance point.

– The game featured 13 ties and 15 lead changes.

– Senior captain Brad Unger made his season debut after suffering a stress fracture in his leg in the preseason. Unger finished with an efficient nine points in 13 minutes.

– Harvard will try to get back to .500 in a hugely anticipated game as Amaker faces his former team on Saturday, December 1, when Michigan visits Lavietes Pavilion for a 5:30 pm ET tipoff on ESPNU.
