According to a September 5 article in his high school newspaper, Zane Ma of Harvard-Westlake in California will be a Princeton Tiger next season. After attracting early attention from a number of Ivy programs in the spring, the possible valedictorian narrowed his choices to Harvard and Princeton before going with the Tigers. The 6-8, 225-pound Ma is the third high school player to give Sydney Johnson a public commitment for next season, joining point guard Max Huc and forward Patrick Saunders.
Slant: Harvard-Westlake coach Greg Hilliard told princetonbasketball.com’s Jon Solomon that Ma should play either power forward or center at Princeton. Hilliard says Ma can score inside and out beyond the three-point line, and passes well out of the post, which is always key in the Princeton system. It’s been two years since the program brought in a player over 6-7, so Ma’s commitment is excellent news for Tiger fans in that respect.
