Tommy Amaker pulled off a major recruiting coup when highly regarded center Frank Ben-Eze of Bishop O’Connell High School in Virginia committed to Harvard. Ben-Eze texted MarquetteHoops.com’s Jim Ganzer this afternoon with the news he was choosing the Crimson over offers from Marquette, Virginia Tech, and Virginia. The 6-11 pivot is rated three stars by both Scout.com and Rivals.com.
Slant: Ben-Eze is easily the highest profile Harvard recruit in recent memory and only Penn recruit Zack Rosen compares to him in terms of national recruiting rankings. Scout.com has Ben-Eze ranked as the 26th-best center in the high school Class of 2008, and he should start from day one at Harvard. His inclusion makes Amaker’s first recruiting class a contender for top honors in the league.
