Columbia ended the first half with a 10-3 run to lead 27-19 at intermission. Then the Lions were able to build up a double-digit lead when Wagner missed its first five shots of the second half. A Matt Vitale free throw was the only Seahawk scoring in the first 3:43 after halftime, while Columbia connected on four of its first five shots to finish off a 19-4 run bridging halftime to claim a 35-20 advantage.

Leading 44-29, the Lions held the Seahawks to two points over a 5:34 span. A K.J. Matsui layup capped a 12-2 Columbia run that gave the Lions a commanding 56-31 lead with less than six minutes left in the contest.

Ben Nwachukwu was the game’s leading scorer with 20 points on 8-for-10 shooting. The junior center added six rebounds and two blocks in just 24 minutes.

| Notes
– No Wagner player reached double figures in scoring. Joey Mundweiler was the leading scorer for the Seahawks with nine points.
– Niko Scott sat out due to an ankle injury that has him day-to-day. Matsui started in his place and joined Nwachukwu as the game’s only double-figure scorers.
– Freshman Patrick Foley didn’t shoot well (2 of 6, 0 of 2 from three) but did a great job getting his teammates involved with five assists against just one turnover.
– The Wagner starting five combined to score just 24 points on 9-for-37 (24.3 percent) shooting.
– Joe Bova played a career-high 17 minutes off the bench, scoring a career-best six points.
– Columbia will head west to Easton, PA, on Monday, December 11 to face Lafayette (3-6) in a 7:00 pm ET game.
