It’s tempting to say that injuries to Leon Pattman and Johnathan Ball that forced them to sit out the game were the key sequence. But in terms of the action on the hardwood, UMass stormed out with a pair of three-pointers and a layup on its first three possessions. The Minutemen scored the first 10 points of the contest, and never looked back. |

Dan Biber and Alex Barnett had keyed a 14-5 run that had the Big Green on the verge of getting back in the game. UMass responded with a 24-2 run to send the home crowd heading for their cars early. |

Freshman Tiki Mayben’s collegiate debut certainly was impressive (12 points, 11 assists), but Rashaun Freeman put the “man” in “Minuteman.” Freeman scored 25 points on 12-for-16 shooting and added 10 rebounds — in just 25 minutes. |
