Junior Damon Huffman sustained a left knee injury in the first half of Brown’s 45-34 loss at Michigan State in the the 2KSports Coaches vs. Cancer Classic. With friends and family in the stands, the Petoskey, MI, native’s knee gave out at the 1:17 mark of the first half while playing defense. He was helped off the court and returned to the sidelines in the second half in street clothes. Teammate Scott Friske told the Brown Daily Herald that Huffman’s injury “doesn’t look good,” but that an MRI would determine the damage.
Slant: As one of the few regulars on the roster with a proven outside shot, Huffman is key to Brown’s fortunes this season. The injury didn’t look good, and Huffman, his teammates, and his family in the stands all seemed very concerned. If it does prove to be season-ending as feared, the Bears are going to struggle even more with their shooting. While Huffman is out, this leaves Craig Robinson shorthanded on the perimeter, with sophomore Chris Skrelja also sidelined with injury.
