Brown’s Daniels departs

Brown’s game notes confirm sophomore James Daniels left the basketball program this week to “pursue his studies.” The 6-2 guard averaged 2.2 points and 7.0 points in 19 games last season and was averaging 2.8 points and 13.2 minutes in the first five games. Daniels was coming off a season-high 19 minutes of action in last week’s loss to Wagner.

Slant: Daniels has been rumored to be leaving the team since the end of last season, so this can’t come as a shock to anyone who has been following the program. Still, Glen Miller doesn’t exactly have an abundance of athletic guards on his bench, so losing Daniels takes away one such option. It also continues a disturbing trend of player attrition at Brown. Just four members of the Class of 2008 remain on the roster, down from nine last season.
