Keys to the Game |
Key sequence |
Cornell came out and hit its first five shots — all three-pointers — and found itself up 15-5 just 4:21 into the contest. Mike Beal hit two free throws to draw Harvard within eight, but the Big Red responded with a 15-4 run over the next 10:20 to go up 19. |
Key sign it was over |
With Cornell up 45-24, the Big Red went into an offensive funk, scoring just six points over the next 6:30. But Harvard shot just 3 of 8 and committed a pair of turnovers in that span, so it was still a 17-point game with just over 10 minutes left. It was then that Adam Gore rebounded Brian Kreefer’s missed three-pointer, and Kreefer eventually found David Lisle for a three-pointer to ignite an 11-0 run that put the game out of reach. |
Key performance |
Gore’s 16 ponts on 4-for-7 three-point shooting. The future Ivy League Rookie of the Year showed off his range, nailing a 26-footer from the wing in the first half — one of three first-half three-pointers. |
Key statistic |
Harvard’s 44 points on 67 possessions. The Crimson offense completely fell apart — both inside and out. Harvard managed just 22 points in each half for its lowest scoring output of the season. |

|
– |
Jason Hartford was in street clothes with a cast on his foot, but Steve Donahue still got great production from his bench. Kreefer scored 14 points and grabbed nine rebounds, and Lisle added 10 points. The Cornell reserves outscored Harvard’s 33-2. |
|
– |
Harvard recorded just eight assists against 20 turnovers. The Big Red outscored the Crimson 16 to 4 in points off turnovers. |
|
– |
Cornell harrassed Goffredo into 3-for-13 shooting. |

– |
The loss was Harvard’s eighth-straight defeat, dropping the Crimson into a tie for last place in the league at 4-9. At 7-6, Cornell clinched its second-straight season of .500 or better in the league and can finish as high as a tie for second place if Princeton loses its two remaining games. |
