The return of the home court advantage

Something bizarre happened back in 2001-02 and 2002-03 — and it wasn’t Ugonna Onyekwe becoming only the fourth two-time Ivy league Player of the Year. Rather, in each of the two seasons, home teams were 28-28 in league play. 2003-04 wasn’t much better (30-26), but the last two seasons have seen the home teams re-establish dominance, going a combined 52-26.

A weekend shake-up of the league’s second tier

First things first: congratulations to Jon Solomon and Nicole Scheller on their wedding yesterday on the banks of the Delaware River in Stockton, New Jersey. The newlyweds put together an entertaining weekend for those of us visiting from out of town. It was amazing to have the chance to meet so many of you both at the game on Saturday night and at Conte’s afterward.

Familiar script for Yale

If it weren’t for the fact this was the fourth season in a row Yale has done this, last night’s score at Jadwin Gym would have been shocking. Now the weight of being the league’s best hope to unseat Penn reverts to Harvard. But with the Crimson just a two-point favorite tonight at Cornell, the title chase could be short-lived once again this season.

Live blogging Friday night

I don’t get too many chances to be at home on a Friday night of an Ivy weekend, so I’m going to try something new tonight: running a live blog of the evening’s action in the Mid-Atlantic region. Through the magic of Internet audio (and video!), gametrackers, and chat rooms, I’ll be keeping tabs on all four games.
