Updated Princeton roster reveals surprises

Princeton has posted a 2006-07 roster on its athletics website, and there are some noteworthy inclusions and exclusions. Unrecruited freshman Pawel Buczak is with the varsity, as is a new name: freshman Nick Lake of Rancho Sante Fe, CA. Gone is junior Harrison Schaen, who left the team back in the spring, as well as senior Patrick Ekeruo and sophomores Geoff Kestler and Alex Okafor.

Carey announces intent to attend Harvard

Scout.com reports T.J. Carey of Oyster Bay, NY, has become the second member of Harvard’s 2007 recruiting class. His St. Dominic’s team went 20-6 last season and should be one of the better high school programs in the New York City area this season. Carey boasts a nice shot, is a solid defender, and passes well enough to play the point — though he appears ideally suited for shooting guard. The 6-2 guard selected the Crimson over interest from Princeton and Yale.

Long Island wing Liberman headed to Princeton

Princeton picked up another commitment on Wednesday, with LongIslandBasketball.com reporting that Jason Liberman of Roslyn Heights, NY, has verbally committed to the Tigers. The 6-5 swingman is regarded as extremely coachable and versatile — able to hit the outside shot and play inside, as he did regularly in high school. As a junior, Liberman was named to the Nassau County All-Star team after leading his Roslyn team to a 15-5 mark.
