Ivy League Office Awards Weeks Seven, Eight

The League Office had an incredibly difficult duty of picking a player of the week for this past week and ultimately went with a member of the Big Red for the third consecutive time.

Ryan Wittman took home the Player of the Week honors for week eight on the strength of his 34 points against LaSalle, which helped the Big Red snag an important 78-75 win over the Explorers. It was Wittman’s fourth Player of the Week honor this season, which is one more than Harvard’s Jeremy Lin and Columbia’s Noruwa Agho. It also marked only the third time in eight weeks that the Player of the Week honor was given to just one player.

Week seven’s award was equally as notable, as it marked only the second and third times all season that the distinction did not go to someone named Wittman, Lin or Agho. Cornell’s Jeff Foote and Yale’s Alex Zampier shared the award.

Center Mark Cisco took home the week seven Rookie of the Week award, his and Columbia’s first on the season, while forward Kyle Casey nabbed the week eight honors, his first and Harvard’s second on the year.
