Ryan Wittman’s 30-footer at the buzzer to top Davidson in overtime not only sent Cornell to the title game of the MSG Holiday Festival, but it also clinched the Ivy League’s Player of the Week honor for the Big Red senior forward.
Wittman’s three-pointer was his seventh of the contest and gave him 29 points on the afternoon to go along with three rebounds and two assists.
It was the third Player of the Week award for Wittman, which ties him with Columbia’s Noruwa Agho and Harvard’s Jeremy Lin for most Player of the Week honors this season.
Dartmouth freshman center Matt LaBove recorded a double-double at Lehigh last week and nine points and six boards at New Hampshire yesterday to nab Ivy League Rookie of the Week honors. LaBove becomes the sixth different freshman to win the award in the first six weeks of the season.
