High School Team and Results
Team profile: The Falcons
3/8: NJSIAA Tournament - Non-Public, South A - Semifinals. Rennard was held to 7 points (1 three) but the No. 4 seed Falcons (23-5) gave No. 1 seed Camden Catholic (19-1) all it could handle before falling 62-59. In a close game throughout, the Falcons trailed 14-12 after 1Q, led 30-25 at the half and trailed 39-37 after 3Q. St. Joseph’s had no answer for 6-6 bruiser Gerry Wixted who scored 38. Rennard missed the final six minutes of the game after diving for a loose ball and hurting his wrist. He sat on the bench with an icepack but his coach wouldn’t put him back in the game.
3/5: NJSIAA Tournament - Non-Public, South A - Quarterfinals. 2/21: Greater Middlesex Conference Tournament quarterfinals. Rennard picked up 2 fouls in the first quarter and played only 6 minutes in the first half, but 20-4 St. Joseph’s managed to hold off 14-10 Cardinal McCarrick 59-49 after being down 20-11 after one quarter. 2/1: With all the talk of Cartwright, James and Jok coming in, early commitment Steve Rennard has gotten a little lost in the shuffle. Maybe folks should start thinking about throwing him seriously into the mix. In a 67-39 win over South Brunswick, Rennard scored 32 points, hitting 8-11 threes and 4-6 twos. He added 6 assists, 5 boards and 4 steals. The Falcons are now 15-3.

Awesome game. Could be the 3 pt shooter we’ve been waiting for since Shiff.

I believe that St. Joes (Metuchen) is in the same GMC conference that Zack Rosen played in through his Junior year of high school at Colonia. The program has produced some great players including Andrew Bynum and Jason Williams. Drexel had a pretty good guard in the 90s who also played there named Mike DeRocckis. It will be interesting to see how St. Joe’s and Rennard do against the better teams in the state playoffs.

Another really good player from St. Joe’s is Sean Baptiste of FDU. Depending on how far St. Joe’s goes in the playoffs, Rennard has a chance to catch Baptiste for 3rd all-time scorer in school history.
We have 4 guys coming in next year who can all hit the 3 and play D. Should be fun.

Correction: Baptiste is in 2nd place in St. Joe’s school history, Rennard is currently 3rd and about 180 points behind Baptiste.

Interesting that you bring up Baptiste. He is a very good player, and possibly the streakiest shooter in all of college basketball today. He’ll put up 25+ points and then 2-4 points in consecutive games with pretty good regularity.

Was at the game last night, Camden Catholic had some big front line players that were too much height for St. Joe’s Metuchen, one of them had 36. Steve had some great assists before injuring himself diving for a loose ball at a critical time in the game, kid is a gamer, sitting behind the bench we saw that his wrist swelled up pretty bad and you could tell he wanted to be on the floor.
Of note, both Glen Miller and Jerome Allen were in attendance last night, Jerome couldn’t talk for recruiting reasons but Glen Miller was extremely nice to come over and say hi after the game was over.

The coach didn’t put him back in the game because he broke a bone in his wrist.
