Mike Szostak of The Providence Journal reports Brown has trimmed a field of 80 applicants to roughly 10, and will be looking to have a new coach in place by June. The article states as many as five applicants will be brought to Providence for in-person interviews, and athletic director Mike Goldberger is quoted as saying there is currently no leading candidate in the search.
Slant: The previous hire proved to be very successful, so Goldberger has set the bar high. Thus far one member of Craig Robins’s solid 2008 recruiting class has de-committed, and there’s a danger that if this drags on too long, others might follow suit.
