Keys to the Game
Key sequence With Princeton fighting to stay in the game trailing by 13, Justin Conway got to the basket, but had his shot blocked. Luke Owings came up with a steal, but was long with a three-point attempt. At the other end Davidson missed a three, tried two unsuccessful tip-ins, and got the ball back out of bounds. The Tigers forced a five-second violation, and Conway drove in for another attempt at point-blank range, but again it was rejected. At the other end, Davidson nailed a wide-open three-pointer to push the margin to 16 points.
Key sign it was over After Scott Greenman stepped on the baseline to turn it over, Davidson got its second straight layup to finish off an 11-0 run that saw the Tigers’ deficit balloon to 20 with just 6:05 left.
Key performances Davidson’s Boris Meno and Kenny Grant. The Wildcats had crucial 7-0 and 11-0 runs in the second half, and Meno and Grant played huge roles in both. The pair was all over the floor, tallying ten points, five rebounds, three assists, and two blocks during these spurts.
Key statistic Davidson’s 37.5-percent offensive rebounding and 92.3-percent defensive rebounding. Other than a moderate edge in free throw attempts for Davidson, the two teams had very similar statistical lines — with the exception of rebounding. The Wildcats entered the game 40th in the nation in defensive rebounding, and that figure will only improve after Princeton grabbed just 2 of 26 rebounds off misses at its own end.

Notes
Former JV player Justin Conway was a surprise starter for Princeton. Conway was effective early on, scoring seven points in first 12 minutes and finished with seven points, a rebound, three assists, a turnover, and a block in 33 minutes.

Kyle Koncz led Princeton with 12 points on 3-of-6 shooting from beyond the arc.

Princeton’s 29-point first half was its second-best first-half scoring output this season against a Division I opponent. Unfortunately, the Tigers didn’t play much defense, as Davidson scored a whopping 37 points on 25 possessions in the first 20 minutes.

Harrison Schaen did not make the trip to North Carolina due to the stomach flu.

Davidson’s leading scorer, Brendan Winters (16.7 points per game), did not dress for the game.
