Just over five minutes in, the Crimson trailed 21-3.
Key sign it was over The game turned into a rout as Stanford stretched its advantage to 35 points late in the first half, and seven straight Cardinal points to start the second half made it a 70-28 game.

Key statistic Stanford shot 43 of 66 (65.2 percent) from the field and 13 of 18 (72.2 percent) at the line. Of the 26 misses that resulted in rebounds, the Cardinal controlled 17 of those, which means Harvard got stops on just 25 of 75 defensive possessions.

– The rebounding numbers were about as lopsided as they get, with Harvard at 23.3 percent offensively and Stanford at 65.4 percent.

– The three Crimson freshmen all saw their first college action, and sophomore Dan McGeary surprisingly played despite transferring from New Hampshire after last season, finishing with nine points.

– Harvard will try to put the loss behind it when it faces UC Santa Barbara (1-0) in the second game of the event on Saturday, November 10, at 7:30 pm ET.
