Slant: It seems like the defending champion invariably tops the preseason poll in the Ivy League, so it’s refreshing to see the voters recognizing that this is a new season and taking a fresh look at what each of the teams is returning. The predicted order of finish looks very believable, and it’s great to see a talented and senior-laden Columbia team get some recognition with a first-place vote. Lower down, Princeton looks so strange residing in seventh place, but Tiger fans can take some solace in the fact that Penn was picked in that very spot in 1990-91, and two years later the Quakers were giving UMass a scare in the NCAA Tournament.
