James Jones already has a big 2008 recruiting class lined up after obtaining a verbal commitment from Connor Frizzelle of DeSoto High School in Texas. The 6-1 combo guard previously had taken an official visit to Army and had planned on visiting Montana State, but canceled that visit after committing to the Bulldogs. He is the second combo guard to give a pledge to Yale this year, joining Reggie Wilhite of Exeter.
Slant: The scouting report on Frizzelle included in the TexasHoops.com article on his commitment speaks of his “excellent” shooting and says he “has a smooth stroke from behind the 3 point arc, has a quick catch and release, [and] works well off screens.” Jones will be looking for his someone to succeed senior All-Ivy guard Eric Flato at the point next year, and Frizzelle’s shooting ability and point guard skills might help him do that.
