New England Basketball Services is reporting 5-11 point guard Ronnie Dixon of Phillips Exeter Academy has committed to Dartmouth for next season. The Danville, IL, native is currently enrolled as a postgrad at Exeter, where he has played through an ankle injury that caused him to miss three weeks in January. Dixon is the first backcourt recruit to make public his commitment to the Big Green, joining three frontcourt players in Terry Dunn’s 2007 recruiting class.
Slant: It’s apparent Dunn still is looking for the answer at the point, as he has taken point guards in all three of his recruiting classes. The word on Dixon is that he has a decent handle and can hit the three-pointer. Given its poor outside shooting this season, Dartmouth clearly could use another perimeter threat. There’s no word on the other schools involved with Dixon, so it’s hard to know the level at which he was recruited.
