Michael James reports in the Harvard Crimson Sports Blog that Harvard center Brian Cusworth was not cleared medically to play this week and will miss both Wednesday’s home contest against Long Island and Saturday’s game at Albany. The junior’s fractured left hand will be re-evaluated next week and his status for that week will be determined at that time.
Slant: This is not good news at all for Harvard, which is 0-2 without Cusworth. On Saturday at Lehigh freshman Evan Harris wasn’t able to duplicate his high-energy effort in the BU game, and Brian Darcy was ineffective starting in Cusworth’s place. If the Crimson can’t figure out how to win without its seven-footer, it’s going to end up with a rather unimpressive non-league mark after starting the season 5-0.
