In response to media reports — including an article by Basketball U. — that sophomore Geoff Kestler is no longer with the Princeton varsity program, the school issued a “roster clarification” that claims:
“Contrary to erroneous media and online reports, sophomore Geoff Kestler has not left the Princeton basketball program. He continues to suffer from an injury that is currently not allowing him to play basketball.”
Slant: If Geoff Kestler is in fact a member of the Princeton varsity men’s basketball team, he needs to be listed on the team’s roster. The entire purpose of a roster is to identify the members of the team — which includes injured players taking part in team activities.
Either the roster on Princeton’s official website was — and continues to be — “erroneous,” or this latest statement is just quibbling over semantics.
