Renewal of sibling rivalry headlines Friday night

Tonight’s best game figures to take place in Manhattan, where a hyped-up meeting of brothers has some significance beyond bloodlines this year. The other games on the slate aren’t the most exciting fare, as two contenders don’t figure to have any problems at home against 2-4 teams, and the fourth game features a pair of likely also-rans.

Friday night drama in New England

For the first time all season, we’re being treated to four league games on a Friday night, as the traditional Ivy weekend schedule finally gets under way. Want another “coach returns to his old stomping grounds to face his former team” storyline? You got it. How about two expected first-division programs now trying to save their seasons on the road? Check. Add in two teams looking to stay within striking distance of the leader, and you’ve got yourself four compelling matchups.

Princeton finally gets a chance to atone

The Tigers have had an awfully long time to think about their disastrous weekend in New York, thanks to an exam break lasting over two weeks. The bad news is that the opportunity to get that bad taste of their mouths will come against a high-major opponent, and Princeton hasn’t fared well against these teams in recent years. Adding injury to insult, Joe Scott may be without his best overall player.

Four big games, four different storylines

Seven of the eight Ivies are in action on Saturday, and something different is at stake in each game. From an important battle between one-loss teams to the second leg of a travel partner rivalry between first-division contenders, there are games that will impact the Ivy standings. Add in an early Senior Night for one of the league’s top players and an important non-league game against a city rival, and you have a very interesting day of hoops.
