Gamecenter: Princeton 56, Yale 45

Key sequence: Trailing 25-22 early in the second half, the Princeton defense held Yale to a Casey Hughes free throw over the next ten minutes. During that span, the Bulldogs went 0-for-7 from the floor and committed five turnovers, while missing the front end of a one-and-one. The Tiger offense didn’t exactly light the world on fire itself during that stretch, but Scott Greenman had a three-pointer, a jumper, and a pair of free throws to key an 11-1 run that gave Princeton a 33-26 lead with under nine minutes left in the contest.

Gamecenter: Penn 74, Brown 68 (OT)

Key sequence: Tied at 55, Eric Osmundson drilled a long three-pointer to put Penn up three with 1:18 left in regulation. Osmundson fouled Keenan Jeppesen at the other end and the Brown sophomore hit both free throws to make it a one-point game. After the two teams traded turnovers, Brian Grandieri hit a pair of free throws to restore the margin to three with 21 seconds on the clock. Ibby Jaaber stole the ball from Marcus Becker with 11 seconds left, but made the very questionable decision to attack the basket rather than running out the clock. Becker ended up redeeming himself by blocking Grandieri’s layup attempt. Scott Friske grabbed the loose ball and found Becker at the other end for a tying three-pointer at the buzzer to force overtime.

Gamecenter: Columbia 64, Harvard 69

Key sequence: Brian Cusworth missed the second of two free throws with Harvard up five and 3:07 left. The rebound took a wild carom out to Columbia’s Brett Loscalzo, who got out in front of the Harvard defense. But Loscalzo couldn’t hit the layup, and Drew Housman found Matt Stehle, who had leaked out against the flow of the play. Stehle dunked to put the Crimson up seven. At the other end, Dragutin Kravic got inside for a layup to make it a five-point game again, but Housman hit two free throws to restore the Harvard margin to seven. Justin Armstrong missed a three-pointer at the other end, and the officials awarded the ball to the Crimson out of bounds. At the other end Jim Goffredo drilled a three-pointer to put Harvard up by double digits.

Gamecenter: Cornell 64, Dartmouth 60

Key sequence: After a Leon Pattman hanger in the paint drew Dartmouth within 58-57 with 1:22 remaining, Cornell’s Brian Keefer missed the first of two free throws and made the second for a 59-57 lead. Pattman then hit the first of two with 37.3 seconds remaining but with a chance to tie the score, he missed the second. Adam Gore followed with a pair of free throws to make it a three-point game. Alex Barnett’s dunk cut the difference to one but Gore nailed two more free throws with 9.4 seconds left, leaving Dartmouth with little choice but to heave up a three to try to tie.
