Penn surprised pretty much everyone by keeping things very respectable last night in Durham. The Quakers got the subpar effort from Duke they needed to have a chance at the upset, but the Ivy Leaguers weren’t able to bring their best game either. It sounds strange to say, but if Penn hadn’t committed 26 turnovers — many of which were careless mistakes — it would have have been right there with the top-ranked Blue Devils.
Hoopmasters.com is reporting that John Pietkiewicz, previously listed as a Cornell and Yale prospect by Rivals.com, is now also involved with Columbia and Dartmouth in the Ivy League, as well as Wofford, Furman, Lipscomb, and Division II schools.
Last night saw Princeton dig itself another early hole when it went to the locker room at intermission with fewer than 20 points for the fourth time in five games. After scoring just 22 points in the game’s first 27 minutes, the home team found itself down 20.
The league’s composite record has been at or above .500 since November 19, but that’s in serious jeopardy tonight. With the overall mark at 22-21, three Ivy teams are in action tonight, and all three are probably the underdogs in those games.
