Keys to the Game |
Key sequence |
Princeton made things very interesting when Noah Savage’s three-pointer cut Cornell’s lead to 50-48 just before the midpoint of the second half. However, Ryan Wittman answered back with a three-pointer just 10 seconds later, and after a Kevin Steuerer turnover, Jason Battle got inside for a layup. Savage misfired from long range, before Geoff Reeves hit one of two at the line. When Louis Dale sank a jumper at the 7:30 mark, it capped off a run of eight unanswered for the Big Red, who suddenly led by double digits at 58-48.

Key sign it was over |
Kevin Steuerer’s three-pointer gave the Tigers a sliver of hope, down 68-61 with 48 seconds to play. However, Louis Dale was predictably perfect at the line, and after a missed jumper by Steurer, Wittman hauled down the board and was fouled, knocking down both of his foul shots. Dale got a piece of Lincoln Gunn’s three-point attempt, and Cornell grabbed the ball, able to run out the clock for the win.

Key performance |
Jeff Foote came off the bench to score a career-high 18 points in just 22 minutes. Foote finished 6 of 8 from the floor and was 6 of 9 at the line. He also added three rebounds, an assist and a block.

Key statistic |
The Big Red came out red hot, shooting 15 of 23 (65.2 percent) in the first half — including 11 of 14 inside the arc — en route to a 37-29 halftime lead.
