Key sequence Harvard’s lead had been bouncing between nine and 11 points midway through the first half, when the Crimson slapped a quick 7-0 run on Dartmouth. The Big Green got back within 12 points on a Ronnie Dixon three-pointer, but Harvard scored the final nine points of the first half to blow open the game. The 9-0 run came in a span of just 59 seconds, as the Crimson scored on four straight possessions, with all four baskets coming off assists. When Kyle Fitzgerald found Andrew Pusar on a fastbreak for a layup, Harvard held a commanding 47-26 lead that it would take into halftime.
Key sign it was over Leading by 20, Harvard put together a 12-2 run as the game turned into a rout. Drew Housman’s two free throws with 12:48 to play put Harvard up 30, assuring the Crimson that its seven-game losing streak was history.
Key performance Pusar finished with 16 points on 7-for-9 shooting and seven rebounds, to go with three assists and a steal in 31 turnover-free minutes.
Key statistic Harvard went to the free throw line 24 times, compared to just 12 attempts for Dartmouth. The Crimson owned a 20-7 scoring edge from the stripe.
Notes

– Pat Magnarelli was the leading scorer for Harvard with 17 points, while Evan Harris and Fitzgerald each scored 10 off the bench.

– Alex Barnett scored a game-high 18 points, but needed 21 attempts from the floor to get there.

– The Crimson shot 25 of 40 (62.5 percent) inside the arc, while the Big Green was just 20 of 46 (43.5 percent), as the hosts had a 44-26 scoring edge in the paint.

– Housman didn’t start following his rough outing against UC Irvine, playing just 17 minutes, as T.J. Carey got the start in his place.

– Harvard owned the glass on the afternoon, rebounding at 41.9 percent offensively and limiting Dartmouth to 28.2 percent at its end and holding an 11-5 edge in second-chance points.

– Carey drew a technical foul in the second half.

– Before the second leg of the home-and-home series in Hanover next weekend, Harvard will host Colgate on Tuesday, January 8, at 7:00 pm ET.
